Stratford-on-Avon
Avon Meadows Restoration Site
BNG registered
Added on 09/12/2024Overview
Description
This site has been targeted for grassland enhancement with some scrub creation. Given the high water table, we expect to see a unique community of floodplain meadow species, including the likes of rush, crested dog’s tail, marsh marigold, meadow foxtail and great burnet. This will in turn attract a variety of fauna, complementing the existing biodiversity supported by the River Avon. The river itself will also be enhanced though the restoration of riparian habitat along the bank tops, catalysing a multitude of downstream benefits. The site is locally ecologically desirable, being located within a Network Expansion Zone and adjacent to a Local Nature Reserve.
