Overview
Description
135 Biodiversity Units Available in Somerset LPA. The site is particularly well placed for ecological restoration due to its location within the Avalon Marshes; an extensive wetland landscape nationally renowned for its rich cultural heritage and diversity of wildlife. Floodplain restoration will contribute to wider enhancement of the iconic Somerset Levels, assisting the recovery of key species including bats, water voles, otters, lapwing, beaver, Bewicks’s swans, and Snipe. Proposed work will also have a direct impacts on water quality and carbon sequestration, being within the EWCO flood risk management network.
