Overview
Description
The BNG project at Beeches farm will enhance and diversify existing habitats to deliver a resilient landscape mosaic that reflects the character of the High Weald and strengthens local biodiversity networks. Species-poor grassland will be restored to other neutral grassland and lowland meadow, priority deciduous woodland will be improved, and new areas of scrub and woodland will be created to increase habitat variety and structural diversity. Together, these measures will form a well-connected mosaic of grassland, scrub and woodland, improving habitat quality, connectivity and ecological resilience for target species across the site and the wider landscape. Changes to management will be minimal, building on the site’s existing low-intensity farming. Small adjustments to grazing and hay cutting regimes, alongside planting, seeding and natural regeneration, will establish and maintain more species-rich habitats while retaining traditional agricultural use.
