Description
Woodplumpton Habitat Bank - Phase 1 - Overview The first phase will improve heavily-grazed poor quality grassland and degrared boundaries, to create a beautiful mosaic habitat of native hedgerows, ponds, scrub and meadows. (The second phase will regenerate previously high-pressured cereal and dairy farm areas to reintroduce native flora and fauna across an amazing array of habitats from meduim to very high distinctiveness. We will use carefully stocked and rotated large herbivore and regenerative impacts to create a true and expansive rewilded habitat over 130 acres, as part of the larger estate masterplan) Our Vision for the Site Woodplumpton Habitat Bank will be a flagship Northern England landscape demonstrating how degraded land can be restored into a thriving, self-sustaining ecological asset — delivering measurable biodiversity uplift, regenerative land stewardship and long-term natural capital value We will regenerate former degraded farmland through native tree planting, species-rich grassland creation, hedgerow reinstatement and the naturalisation of waterways. Habitat mosaics will be designed to maximise ecological connectivity, enabling biodiversity to flourish across woodland, wetland and meadow systems Rooted in rewilding principles, the site will carefully introduce appropriate large herbivores and omnivores to support dynamic habitat processes, natural grazing cycles and regenerative farming systems. Nature will be allowed space to recover — guided, not controlled — to restore ecological integrity and resilience Improvement will be evidence-led and transparent. Baseline assessments, habitat management and monitoring plans will underpin the site, with ongoing ecological surveys tracking measurable uplift over time. Woodplumpton will generate high-integrity Biodiversity Net Gain and wider natural capital credits, contributing directly to regional and national nature recovery targets The site will also be open in spirit and engagement. Local wildlife groups, ramblers and rewilding enthusiasts will be welcomed through managed access, interpretation and citizen science initiatives — connecting people back to landscape and stewardship Woodplumpton forms part of a wider masterplan vision — integrating sensitive eco-tourism, eco-residential development, a wellbeing and health hub, and low-impact eco-office and commercial space.
