This site is comprised of four grassland fields of other neutral grassland and improved grassland, surrounded by a mix of native hedgerows. Over winter, during higher rainfall, water flows down through to the south of the site. The existing grassland habitats will be enhanced to increase their species diversity through grazing, introduction of local green hay and/or local provenance seed, hay meadow management, and bracken and scrub management. Areas of dense bracken and bramble will be replaced with mixed scrub, to increase the diversity of habitats across the land, providing stepping stones for species, and a valuable edge habitat to the adjacent deciduous woodland. Areas of mixed scrub, once established, will be managed and maintained in good condition. The landowner has a Level 4 in Arboriculture as well as all the relevant NPTC qualifications, bat training, and is an experienced conservation grazier for Essex Wildlife Trust. They also still work on projects including reedbed management, dormouse habitat enhancement, nightingale habit improvement and wet woodland creation, and management within SSSI sites under Natural England licensing, such as Hanninfield SSSI and Abberton SSSI.
