Description
Keele Meadows Habitat bank is 22 acres of poor quality grassland, poor quality woodland, mixed scrub and pond located within Newcastle- Under- Lyme Borough Council. This former colliery spoil tip which has suffered from Underground burning will be transformed into a thriving ecosystem providing environmental and community benefits. With no records of protected species the site represents an ideal opportunity for large scale habitat building and restoration. The site offers 1.33 Pond ( priority) Units 18.61 Neutral Grassland Units 9.92 Bramble/Mixed Scrub Units 9.22 Broadleaved Woodland Units 7.4 Hedgerow Units Social- In addition to the ecological benefits the site has been designed with community engagement at its heart facilitating public access and providing health benefits to the local community alongside educational opportunities for schools.
