Description
High Fen, by Nattergal, is a ~300ha site which represents an incredible opportunity for ecological recovery in the Fens. With a few tweaks and some natural capital investment, the restoration of this Wildland will deliver a unique and wonderful habitat mosaic and wetland system. We will also build a project that cleans water as it filters through the habitats and one that prevents carbon emissions through rewetting the peat. Habitat units being created include medium distinctiveness scrub, woodland and grassland, high distinctiveness floodplain wetland mosaic (CFGM) and calcareous grassland.
