Description
Overlooking the Mersey Estuary this site was previously utilised as sandstone quarry and chemical waste disposal area. The site is now being transformed into a thriving ecosytem. The site is positioned within the Liverpool City Region Nature Improvement area granting it strategic significance for habitat enhancement. The site currently consists of modified grassland and scrubland and the restoration plan focuses on converting the existing heavily over grazed into wildflower meadows that are rich in species diversity and structural complexity. New ponds will also be created creating diverse habitats supporting a wider range of species and enhanced field boundary habitats are a key part of the scheme. The site offers 38 Neutral Grassland Units 19.88 Mixed Scrub Units 2.08 Ponds( non priority) Units 20.3 Hedgerow Units Social- As with all our sites as well as the ecological benefits the site has been designed with community at its heart offering long term access and educational opportunities for the local community.
