Overview
Description
The land around Darsham Old Hall was previously heavily cropped for arable production over many years and the soil and watercourse in poor condition when the current owners took over. The restoration of the Hall and surrounding land is a long term project, to deliver nature recovery and sustainable food production. The land is now in the process of restoration to build a complex mosaic of habitats, creating an environment delivering connectivity with other valuable local habitats. Centred around enhanced grassland and a heritage orchard, English Longhorn act as environmental engineers to assist the habitat restoration and recovery of local flora and fauna. With orchard planted, ponds dug and habitat improvements well underway the initial habitat creation process should be completed in winter 25/26. Visitors are welcome by arrangement to tour the site to learn about the process and witness the increasing biodiversity.
