BNG registered
Added on 15/10/2024Overview
Description
The Bathealton Nature and Conservation reserve sits in rolling hills between Wellington and Wiveliscombe, near developments in Taunton and along the M5 Corridor. The reserve has been established to enhance and create habitats for offsite BNG across 28.4 hectares. Habitats and high quality BNG credits will include multi species grassland, mixed scrub, traditional orchards, hedgerows, woodland, trees, ponds and watercourses. The Reserve has been selected and prioritised by Somerset Council as part of the LPA’s call to sites for its appropriateness and likelihood of successful delivery. In June 2025, the site was legally secured with a S106 agreement with Somerset Council - which was only the second site in Somerset to achieve this. The Reserve is professionally managed by an advisory board of the Landowner, Somerset Wildlife Trust and Acorn Property Consultants to deliver a wide range of benefits to the local environment and community. The site is listed on the BNG register and thus able to sell units immediately. The Reserve can assist developers by providing strong BNG and ESG credentials through the delivery of a wide range of benefits: - Providing connectivity and wildlife corridors with adjacent ancient and priority woodlands and the neighbouring Langford Heathfield Nature Reserve. The reserve is classed as strategically significant as it sits in both Somerset’s Environmental Network and Natural Englands, National Habitat Network - Carbon sequestration - Improvements to water quality and attenuation in the Tone valley catchment area - Access for local residents and for local educational needs. - Provision of habitat for local protected species, including dormice, bats, otters, water voles, brown hairstreak butterflies and badgers. - Continuation of low intensity agricultural production in conjunction with habitat and diversity gains. Our listing is now live and we are reserving units. Bespoke solutions and customised pricing for developers requiring more complex and larger requirements are welcomed and accommodated. Please contact us to discuss your needs. The reserve has no minimum order size and will sell part credits.
