Description
Stairfoot Habitat bank comprises some 50 acres located off Wombwell Road Barnsley ( A 633). Comprising former clay pits dating back to the 1900's a number of the pits were infilled by the local authority in the 70's and 80's. This industrial heritage enables a wide range of enhanced habitats to be created and managed at Stairfoot. The site currently comprises of poor and moderate grassland, woodland, bare ground, scrub and non priority habitat ponds. The project will create 72.73 Open Mosaic Habitat Units - We are the only UK provider of OMH Units. 5.75 Woodland and Forest Units 13.59 Neutral Grassland Units 9.72 Heathland and Scrub Units 8.39 High distinctiveness lakes Units 9.27 Hedgerow Units GEDG are a B Corp certified company and as an ethical development company are seeking wherever possible to share additional ESG value with our clients. Social and Educational Value Stairfoot is firstly a project for nature conservation however it is also designed with community engagement at its heart. Enabling considered public access provides considerable benefits to human health and mental wellbeing. GEDG supports local communities through funding and access to our habitat banks and by providing educational opportunities.
